Kurt Vatland

Soulful singer & guitarist Kurt Vatland, returned to Minneapolis via Southern California and Texas with great songs but no band. Fortunately he met Berklee Music graduate Riggs Kessler (lead guitar) becoming neighbors, while a flashy and heavy handed percussionist named Aaron Willey simultaneously entered the picture through a mutual friendship. Bass guitar filled out the sound with help of Seth Levine and La Madness was born.

Only after three rehearsals the band found themselves recording the famed Winterland Studios with producer and confidant Bryan Mengy recording their first single She’s a Devil and then a following few weeks later they opened for a national act at the Varsity Theater.
La Madness have gone on to perform multiple shows at the Fine Line Music Café and landed rotational homes at Cause and Mayslacks on both sides of town to a consistently growing throng of ‘Mad Fans’.
Building momentum, La Madness decided to cross a handful of state lines & performed an all original set at the Shannon Hoon Vigil to Blind Melon fans from around the globe which is a big success.
On their first road trip, the title of the debut album Chances Are (due for release in February 2013) is coined from within a smoke filled gentleman’s club late at night which Kurt described "like something out of a movie". The band returned home to a sudden' word of mouth' explosion which now has them performing to even bigger audiences, receiving raving reviews from press state wide and doing radio/television showcases.
The internet and previous geographical residencies of both Kurt and Rigg’s has given rise to Mad Fan support apparent on both coasts and claims La Madness as one of their own. People want this band.
